Day Camper Information
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY FOR A DAY CAMPER? Campers will be dropped off at Pittman Dining Hall every weekday morning between 8:30 and 8:45 am to join the camp assembly, and will be met by an assigned day camper counselor. Parents will be asked to check them in, and check them back out in the evening. Day campers will attend two classes in the morning, have lunch (which is included), and then two classes in the afternoon. They will then participate in afternoon activities, which may vary from day to day but will be something active, like swimming, hiking, or frisbee. Pick up will be at 5:30 pm each weekday, at a location determined by the counselors.
Day Camper Daily Schedule:
8:45-9:00 Camp Assembly
9:00-10:30 Class 1
10:30-12:00 Class 2
1:00-2:30 Class 3
2:30-4:00 Class 4
4:00-5:30 Afternoon Activities
5:30 Parent/Guardian Pickup
HOW DO DAY CAMPERS CHECK IN FOR CAMP? We ask that Day Campers and their parents/guardians come to campus on the Sunday before camp at 5:30 pm. We invite you and your child to come meet David Kyser, our head day camper counselor, for an informational meeting. At 5:45, we ask that you leave your child to let them attend the introductory camp assembly and to run through a mock-class schedule to find out class locations and meet their teachers. Parents can pick day campers up at 7:30 pm Sunday. This allows our day campers and their parents to find out about our camper drop off locations and our check-in and check-out procedures, talk to counselors about any specific needs your child might have, as well as pick up their AICL folders and t-shirt so that everyone is ready on Monday morning.
WHAT TO BRING EACH DAY: Water bottle, good shoes to run around in, back pack, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, camp folder, name tag, weather appropriate clothing, and any prescription medication with dosage guidelines.
WHAT NOT TO BRING: Your child should not bring cell phones, ipods, ipads, computers, unnecessary valuables (electronics, jewelry, etc.), any substantial amount of cash, weapons, pets, cigarettes, alcohol, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, non-prescribed prescription drugs, or any illegal substances.
WHEN IS THE CLOSING CEREMONY? Saturday morning after each program, we will feature performances and the presentation of certificates for any campers who are leaving. This program will begin at 10 am. The location may vary, so you will receive information closer to time. Day campers and parents of all campers are invited to attend AICL closing ceremonies.
