Our Programs

Virtual Camp

Virtual Camp is an academic summer program with classes designed to both introduce the novice and challenge the advanced learner. The classes are small, and our innovative teachers create an engaging virtual environment in which learning is fun and curiosity is rewarded. We offer a wide variety of courses, hoping to encourage our campers to choose subjects that may be outside of their comfort zone. Campers have the opportunity to participate in synchronous and asynchronous content. In addition to virtual learning, campers have the opportunity to complete physical challenges away from their screens to help prevent a zombie invasion. Virtual camp offers the opportunity to prevent a Zombie invasion, communicate with ET creatures, and listen to camp radio broadcasts. Experience a camp made for the virtual environment!

In the meantime, check out a sampling of last year's classes.

Summer Enrichment Camp (SEC) is an academic summer program with classes designed to both introduce the novice and challenge the advanced learner. The classes are small, and our innovative teachers create an environment in which learning is fun and curiosity is rewarded. We offer a wide variety of courses, hoping to encourage our campers to choose subjects that may be outside of their comfort zone. Campers have the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities in the afternoon, then after dinner go to clubs. Some popular clubs in the past have been reading, board games, juggling, and drawing. The evening activity is different every night throughout the week, from campus-wide hunts for aliens or zombies, to the much anticipated dance (lovingly referred to as the "disco" because it's been a tradition for a long time).

Base Camp

Base Camp offers an exciting opportunity for campers entering grades 6-8 to experience hands on science labs, intensive art classes, and Socratic discussions. Base Camp does not focus on one subject, but offers courses that are active and allow students to explore their interests outside of school. Students should be prepared to be on their toes throughout the day, expanding their academic horizons as well as embracing new artistic ideas. We will also have two daily sessions of low impact exercise such as swimming, Frisbee, kickball – just to name a few – as well as a full slate of after dinner clubs and activities.

The caring and intelligence of the staff is evident in each person that I've encountered. And one thing that I appreciate about AICL is that it makes room for the kids that are a little bit different, a little bit outside the mainstream. Every kid seems to find their place there. AICL is the highlight of my daughters' summer, and it has been for four years now. I highly recommend it.

It was the first time my daughter had stayed away from home that long and she didn't know anyone going to camp, so I was concerned she might get homesick. But from the first minute we arrived, she felt at home and I felt my daughter was in good hands. She loved camp and had no problem being away from home.

The one thing that is difficult about AICL is describing it to others! For my child it was a place where she was encouraged to be her true self, where she learned and saw modeled acceptance and compassion, where she had fun but also learned some skills, and where she met friends she'll have a lifetime. It is really not like any other camp. Where else can you learn how to be a Viking, create your own musical, get tips on arguing, and be chased by zombies - all in the same week?”
